Distance of Annapurna Base Camp Trek:

One of the closest Himalayan ranges to the scenic Pokhara city is the Annapurna Himalaya range. Approx. 32 km or 20 miles, as the crow fly or aerial distance from Pokhara to Annapurna Base Camp. But the walking distance is about 40 k.m. from the starting point at Jhinu village, covering nearly 81 k.m. or 51 miles both ways. Not counting the driving distance from Pokhara to Pokhara before and after the treks. The driving distance is approx. 28 k.m. / 18 miles one way to and from the starting points from Pokhara. 

 

Trek Difficulties during Different Seasons:

Seasons on treks to Nepal Himalayas, especially for Annapurna Base Camp must be wise to choose the right time. The southern areas of the Annapurna Himalayan ranges are known for the most rainfall in Nepal. This is why the region of Annapurna has mid-hills and valleys with lush green vegetation.

Annapurna Base Camp Trekking Trail:

Depending upon the best seasons of the year, in the right season, the trails are good as usual. The route of trekking after leaving the main Chomrong village walking on stone steps. From Sinuwa Danda / Hill walk on forested narrow mud tracks to reach Bamboo, a nice settlement. Then entering the Modi River gorge, with ups and downhill to Deurali, sometimes the path is broken. 

From previous landslides and avalanches, but more or less safe path to walk. Much climb up to Machhapuchare Base Camp, and then on reaching the Annapurna Sanctuary, the trail gets better. At present from last year 2022, individual trekking is not allowed, trekkers need to book with local trekking agencies. Either in Kathmandu or Pokhara, where the company will provide a Government License guide and porter. Now it is banned, and trekkers must have a guide and a porter to enjoy the treks around Nepal Himalayas.
