Things To Do Around Kathmandu

Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal and is the only city in the country with International Airport. So everyone who comes to Nepal via flight has no other options than staying a day or two in Kathmandu. The city has a very rich culture and history and has several interesting places to visit. Below is a list of things to do in Kathmandu.

Day Hikes Around Kathmandu Valley

The rims of the valley are perfect destinations for short scenic day hikes. Hikes to Kakani, Nagarkot Day Hike, Chisapani, Dhulikhel Day Hike, and Champadevi are the best available hikes in and around Kathmandu Valley. A steep uphill of a few hours rewards excellent views of a few of the main ranges of the Himalayas of Nepal. These ranges include the mighty Everest (most distinctly visible from Nagarkot) and two other 8000-meter giants; Manaslu (8163 meters) and Shishapangma (8027 meters).

Mount Everest Experience Flight
There is no better way than a mountain flight to see the Himalayas of Nepal in its full glory. The 1-hour mountain flight takes you up close to Everest, the highest point on the planet, and also provides breathtaking views of the nearby mountains Lhotse (8516 meters), Shishapangma (8027 meters), Gauri Sankar (7134 meters), and many more. If seeing Everest is on your bucket list then this is also the easiest way to get it off the list.

Visit Thamel and Dream Garden.
A visit to Kathmandu is incomplete without a visit to the main tourist hub of Kathmandu, Thamel. This is one of the first things to do in Kathmandu. This famous part of the town has varieties of restaurants, hotels, and guesthouses to choose from. Thamel is also the only part of the town with nightlife (however, most of them shuts around midnight). However, it may not please the people who are looking for quiet time. Nonetheless, it is still an experience to visit this part of the town where there are more foreigners than locals.
