We have designed this 13-day short version of the Manaslu Circuit Larkya Pass trek for experienced hikers with limited time who want to enjoy a memorable Himalayan trekking experience in Nepal.
We have designed this 13-day short version of the Manaslu Circuit Larkya Pass trek for experienced hikers with limited time who want to enjoy a memorable Himalayan trekking experience in Nepal. The Manaslu Larkya Pass hike is a shorter version of the Manaslu trek, beginning in Machhakhola and concluding in Dharapani within thirteen days.
The Manaslu Circuit Larkya Pass Trek, known as one of the best treks in Nepal, features diverse landscapes that transition from lush subtropical Himalayan foothills to the arid high pastures of the Trans-Himalayan region near Tibet. If you're looking for a unique and captivating experience in Nepal, this trek offers a refreshing change and showcases some of the most stunning and mesmerizing scenery along the way.
The Manaslu Circuit Larkya Pass Trek is a lesser-known, remote trek in Nepal that provides a serene experience away from the crowds. Trekkers can discover diverse wildlife and stunning landscapes while learning about Hindu and Buddhist cultures from the welcoming local communities. This moderately challenging trek rewards adventurers with breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks.
We offer a complete 20-day Manaslu Circuit trek package from arrival to departure. This trek includes a full day of sightseeing at world heritage sites, guided by a knowledgeable city guide, along with necessary transportation. The trekking portion lasts longer and features some of the best side trips, such as a visit to Serang Gompa, where clients have the opportunity to stay at a Buddhist monastery. We highly recommend the 20-day Manaslu trek package for clients who are not restricted by time, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the local culture, landscapes, and scenery.
We also offer a 25-day trek that combines the Tsum Valley and the Manaslu Circuit. Tsum Valley is situated in the northern part of Nepal's Gorkha district, bordering Tibet. It is often referred to as the "hidden valley of happiness," or Beyul Kyimolung, and is renowned for its vibrant Tibetan Buddhist culture. The valley is home to ancient monasteries, such as Mu Gompa and the Milarepa Cave. Tsum Valley was opened to visitors in 2008 and is predominantly influenced by sacred Buddhism.

After breakfast, our trekking days will begin in Jagat village, following the regular trail along the Budhi Gandaki river valley. We will pass through the village of Khorlabesi, Tatopani (a natural hot spring), Dobhan, and Yaruphat, and finally reach Jagat village. It will take about 6-7 hours of hiking, and we will stay overnight at a tea house.
After leaving Jagat village, we are entering the Manaslu restricted area. After breakfast, we set out for our next destination, checking our Manaslu Restricted Area entry permits and Manaslu Conservation entry permits at the checkpoint in Jagat village.
The trek continued along the Budhi Gandaki River, passing through Salleri, Sirdibas, Philim, Eakle Bhatti, Nyak Phedi, and Pewa, and finally arriving at Deng, which is at an altitude of 1860 meters. The journey took approximately 7 to 8 hours, and we stayed overnight at a tea house.
As we ascend higher, the air becomes thinner, and you will notice the changing landscapes, people, and their lifestyles. We are now entering the area of the Buddhist communities, well-known for the Nubri Valley, which has a strong influence from Tibetan Buddhism and a rich culture.
We will hike through the villages of Rana and Bihi before finally arriving at Ghap, which is at an altitude of 2,160 meters. This trek will take approximately 5 hours. We will spend the night at a cozy tea house run by a friendly local family from the region.
Hiking becomes increasingly interesting as you encounter the Buddhist Mani wall, Mani Stones, and Prayer Flags welcoming you in every village of the beautiful Nubri Valley. The valleys widen, and snow-capped peaks surround you.
We will hike through Namrung and Lihi village, eventually arriving at Sho village. From the Sho village, you can enjoy a stunning sunset view of Manaslu North and Naike Peak. The trek will take about 6 hours, and we will stay overnight at a tea house.
Enjoy a breakfast with a stunning sunrise view over Manaslu and Naike Peak. After breakfast, we will continue our journey to Shyala Village. Today's trek is relatively shorter than previous days, but we will be gaining altitude. We will hike through Lho Village and Ribung Gompa. From this point, you can take in the breathtaking view of the Mount Manaslu Massif that Lho Village offers.
As we explore this beautiful Buddhist monastery, we are treated to a breathtaking view of Mount Manaslu, the eighth-highest peak in the world. Continuing on our journey, we approach our final destination for the day: Shyala village. Here, a grand Buddhist chorten stands to welcome every hiker arriving in the village, about a 5-hour journey, and stay overnight at a tea house.
One of the highlights of the trip is today. After breakfast, we will take a side trip to Punggen Tal, Punggen Glacier, and Pung Gyen Gompa. This trip provides a closer view of the true Manaslu summit.
From our side trip to Pung Gyen Gompa, we will enjoy a 360-degree view of Mount Manaslu (8163 meters), Thulagi Peak (7059 meters), Peak 29 (7871 meters), and Simnang Himal. After enjoying this beautiful side trip back to Samagaon village, the largest village in the upper Nubri valley, we will stay overnight at a tea house. Our side trip today will take approximately 6 to 7 hours.
In Samagaon village, located at an altitude of 3,520 meters, we must prepare thoroughly for our upcoming journey to even higher altitudes. To ensure proper acclimatization, we have several options available, including hiking to Manaslu Base Camp, which is at an elevation of 4,400 meters. This is where climbers begin their ascent to the world’s eighth-highest peak. The trek to Base Camp and back to Samagaon village takes approximately 7 to 8 hours.
If you prefer not to hike all the way to Manaslu Base Camp, you can opt to visit Birendra Tal, one of the pristine glacial lakes that offers stunning reflections of the Manaslu landscape. During your visit, you will have the chance to explore a typical local village and a Buddhist monastery. You can spend the afternoon relaxing and staying overnight in Samagaon village.
After a wonderful 2-night stay in Sama Gaon, we will trek to Samdo village, the last settlement and the closest village to Tibet. The walk to the Nepal-Tibet border at Lajyung Pass from Samdo takes about 4 to 5 hours. The trek from Sama Gaon to Samdo takes approximately 4 hours, where we will stay overnight in a tea house.
Dharmasala is the final overnight stop before crossing Larkya La Pass, which stands at an elevation of 5,106 meters. The accommodations in Dharmasala are very basic and limited. During the busy season, particularly in October and November, it may be difficult to secure a room. In such cases, clients may be accommodated in tents at the nearby camp. The trek from Samdo to Dharmasala takes approximately four hours, where you will spend the night.
One of the most challenging and lengthy days on our trek will be the crossing of Larke La Pass, which stands at an altitude of 5,106 meters. We will start our day with an early breakfast before embarking on our journey to the highest point of the Manaslu trek, Larkya La Pass. At the top, you will be treated to breathtaking 360-degree views, providing a perfect opportunity to capture unforgettable photos and videos.
After savoring the magnificent scenery, we will begin our long and tiring descent to Bhimtang, situated at 3,610 meters, where we will rest for the night. We have returned to civilization, where better accommodations and food options are available after our long journey over Larkya La Pass. It is about a 9-10-hour journey.
After breakfast and before departing from Bhimtang, take in the stunning views of Manaslu North, the south face of Phungi, Himlung Himal, Lamjung Himal, and Cheo Himal. Leaving these majestic peaks behind, we trek to Dharapani, where we connect to the popular Annapurna Circuit trail. Our route will take us through Yak Kharka, Goa, and Tilije, following the Dudh Khola river.
Upon arriving in Dharapani, you will celebrate the successful conclusion of the Manaslu Larkya La Pass trek with your team. Today's journey takes about 7 to 8 hours, and you will stay overnight at a tea house.
After breakfast, we will drive to Besisahar, which takes about 5 hours in a reserved local jeep, passing through Ta, Chamje, Khudi, and Besisahar. We will stop for lunch in Besisahar.
