And another Ramche 4580 meters on the south side of Mount Kanchenjunga. Both places are picturesque campsites surrounded by stunning natural beauty. Tseram is the best place to do Acclimatization while trekking to Kanchenjunga south base camp. From Tseram it is absolutely possible to acclimatize day hike Yamgachha Khola Valley. As far as the direction of Khang la Pass 5202 meters that is connecting Nepal and Sikkim. Tseram offers peaceful and tranquil environments, far away from the noise and distraction of city life. It's a destination where you can fully embrace the tranquility of nature while disconnecting from the fast-paced modern world.
Ramche is located at an elevation of 4580 meters, better known as Kanchenjunga South Base. Which is the last camp for trekkers where you spend overnight on the south side of Kanchenjunga Tek. Ramche is also a popular Yak grazing spot where locals freely graze their Yaks in this beautiful spot. During the night Wild Animal blue Sheep will be exploring close to us to find food. They leisurely wander around our camp, as they typically engage in playful activities and graze, keeping humans at a distance from these locations. Ramche is a big valley where the trekking group set their camp. Probably one of the pristine campsites, from where we can explore close views of Rathong 6682 meters and the Kabru Himal range.
Oktang viewpoint is the highest point of the trek on the south side we will visit during our Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek. It is located at Height of 4730 meters in the lap of Mt. Kanchenjunga. If you are not able to get the Oktang viewpoint during your KBC trek you will miss one of the highlights of Kanchenjunga Trekking, from where we can explore eye-catching views of Kanchenjunga and Yalung Glacier. There is no other place than the Oktang viewpoint from where we can enjoy the breathtaking panorama view of Kanchenjunga South and surrounding Himalayan peaks.
The Key Objective of the KBC South Base Camp trek is to stand at Oktang viewpoint, which provides a breathtaking view of the world's third-highest Peak and its Glacier which is a massive glacier that descends from the slopes of Kanchenjunga and Yalung Khang. A combination of mountains, glaciers, and Landscapes creates a fascinating panorama.

Flowing the anticlockwise direction, Sinionla Pass, Mirginla Pass, and Selele La Pass connect the Kanchenjunga South and Kanchenjunga North valley. Leaving Simbuwa Khola Valley behind, we enter Ghunsa Khola Valley. Traveling with very limited time, or any physical issue then it is possible to break the trek between the Kanchenjunga South section and the Kanchenjunga North section. It is possible to trek back after completing the Kanchenjunga South base camp without crossing these three high passes following the same trail you walked earlier on your trek up to the KBC South base camp.
During our journey from KBC south to north direction, crossing over three high passes crossing Sinionla Pass 4646 meters, Mirginla Pass 4645 meters and Selele La Pass 4480 meters. In clear weather, it is clearly visible one of the spectacular mountains in the Kanchenjunga region Mt. Janu also known as Khumbhakarna 7711 meters, and Mt Makalu from the Selele La Pass.
Ghunsa village is located Height of 3400 meters in Ghunsa Khola Valley north of Kanchenjunga. It is the largest village in the upper Kanchenjunga region of Nepal. The village of Ghunsa is mainly inhabited by the Sherpa Community who believe in and follow Tibetan Buddhism. The Gunsa Village is known for its strong Buddhist culture, heritage, and Buddhist monasteries. You can see prayer flags hanging surrounding the village. The Local peoples from Ghunsa Village actively practice Buddhism and rituals are an important part of their way of life.
Khambachen Valley is located in the Kanchenjunga north valley elevation of 4050 meters. It is one of the best places to rest and acclimate before climbing the higher elevation of Lhonak and Pangpema Kanchenjunga North base camp. Also, Khambachen is a perfect place for extending a side trip to Janu Himal Base Camp and Nupchu Pokhari.

The designation Janu officially names Kumbhakarna is the 32nd highest peak in the world elevation of 7711 meters located west of Mt. Kanchenjunga. In the Limbu and Kirat cultures, they worship a sacred mountain named Phoktanglunma, precisely the mountain with shoulders. Phoktang means “shoulder” and Lungma means mountain in the Limbu language.
Kumbhakarna is one of the most beautiful mountains. To explore Kumbhakarna from a closer distance, it is absolutely possible to do a day trip to Kumbhakarna (JanuHimal) base camp from Khambachen. It will take about 3 hours to get to the base camp of Janu Himal and 1:30 hours to go back following along the Janu Himal Glacier. Janu Himal Base Camp is located about 4400 meters. It is a perfect acclimatization and good preparation before hiking higher up to Lhonak and Pang Pema.
Not many people know about this sacred Lake Nupchu Pokhari, located west north of Khambachen. Nupchu Pokhari is a Himalayan glacier lake located at an elevation of 5000 meters. It is about a whole day side trip from Khambachen following the Nupchu Khola valley. To reach Nupchu Pokhari takes about 5 hours of walking from Khambachen and on the way back about 3 hours. This is one of the big days but very worth doing it. From Nupchu Pokhari we can experience a breathtaking view of Nupchu Peak 6044 meters, Tha Nagphu Peak 5980 meters, Sarphu Peak 6328 meters, Janu Himal, and Kanchenjunga range.
Lhonak Valley is one of the coldest valleys located at the base of Kanchenjunga Glacier in Kanchenjunga's north valley. When the tea House is closed at Pang Pema, trekkers make a day trip to Kanchenjunga North base camp from Lhonak. Spending the night at Pang Pema you will need camping arrangements. So without staying the night at KBC North base camp also, it is possible to visit KBC North base camp from the Lhonak. It is about a whole day trip from Lhonak to Pang Pema and back to Lhonak.

Not many people have the opportunity to spend the night at Pang Pema. Because the tea house or mountain hut is not big enough or it is not regularly open. Traveling with camping arrangements can stay at Kanchenjunga North base camp. Drohmo Ri viewpoint is located at the top of Pang Pema (Kanchenjunga North base Camp) elevation of about 5900 meters. Climbing Drohmo Ri viewpoint is not required any climbing experience and not involved any technical climb. It takes about 4 – 5 hours to reach the Drohmo Ri viewpoint from Pang Pema.
From the Drohmo Ri view Point, we can explore 360-degree views of the world's Third highest peak and surrounding Himalayan peaks. There is not any other place than the Drohmo Ri viewpoint where we can explore the eye-catching Himalayan vista.
